Many public and private employers in Ohio are required to perform background checks before admitting new employees to their companies. The Attorney General Office’s Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) completes these background checks. The person undergoing the check has to submit his fingerprints to BCI for the check. BCI then compares his fingerprints with the fingerprints of criminals in its database. This process helps them determine if a criminal record of the employee exists.
