Licensing and bonding is an important aspect of quality assurance and safety used throughout the United States. In particular, the state of Florida has many agencies which license and bond individuals and companies in various business practices. Specifically, the state of Florida has an extensive procedure to license and bond individuals involved in the production and sale of agricultural products due to the many safety and consumer concerns surrounding agricultural products.
Write a list of all agricultural products that are being bought and sold for resale in Florida. Most Florida agricultural products require licensing and bonding except for most citrus fruits, sugar cane and tobacco. Determine if the agricultural products that are being bought and sold require licensing and bonding by the state of Florida.
Fill out a state of Florida Agricultural License and Bonding Application. The official name of the form is Form DACS-06302. Specific instructions can be found on the application itself, but all applications will require a license fee and a bond or a certificate of deposit. The application will require business names and addresses and agricultural product information such as types and amount of agricultural products which will be bought, sold or distributed.
Print out and make a copy of all application materials and be sure to save the copies in a safe place. Similarly, pay the license fee and surety bond with a certified bank check in order to assure that the payment amount is available and to keep good records of the application process and payment.
Mail the license application and the surety bond to the state of Florida Department of Agriculture. Mail the application certified mail to ensure delivery and follow up the mailing with a phone call to the Department of Agriculture to make sure that the application was complete, received and accepted.
